Perturbative and Non-Perturbative QCD Corrections to Wide-Angle Compton Scattering

چکیده
We investigate corrections to the handbag approach for wide-angle Compton scattering off protons at moderately large momentum transfer: the photon-parton subprocess is calculated to next-to-leading order in αs and contributions from the generalized parton distribution E are taken into account. Photon and proton helicity flip amplitudes are non-zero due to these corrections which leads to a wealth of polarization phenomena in Compton scattering. Thus, for instance, the incoming photon asymmetry or the transverse polarization of the proton are non-zero although small. We extend previous work on sum rules for the invariant amplitudes of pion Compton scattering by deriving a complete lowest order perturbative spectral function and its leading non perturbative power corrections-for a specific combination of the two helicities (H 1 + H 2) of this process. Using some properties of a modified version of the Borel transform, we develop a method of calculation of th...

We compare two approaches to the description of pion Compton scattering at moderate momentum transfer, one being based on local duality QCD sum rules for the invariant amplitudes of the process, which have been derived recently, and the other on the modified factorization formula with Sudakov effects included. We find that perturbative QCD predictions are dominant over those from QCD sum rules ...

The study of exclusive final states in electron-proton diffractive interactions is a very powerful tool to investigate the applicability and the relevance of perturbative Quantum Chromo Dynamics (QCD) in this field. At HERA, the wide kinematic range in the photon virtuality, Q, provides particular insight into the interplay between perturbative and non-perturbative regimes in QCD. Moreover, a c...

As is well-known factorization is an important property of QCD whithout which we would not be able to calculate form factors or cross sections. Factorization into a hard parton-level subprocess to be calculated from perturbative QED and/or QCD, and soft hadronic matrix elements which are subject to non-perturbative QCD and are not calculable at present, has been shown to hold for a number of re...

The interest of the DVCS process resides in the particular insight it gives to the applicability of perturbative Quantum Chromo Dynamics (QCD) in the field of diffractive interactions. In the presence of a hard scale, the DVCS scattering amplitude factorises into a hard scattering part calculable in perturbative QCD and parton distributions which contain the non-perturbative effects due to the ...
